Today is a special day in my heart. 20 years ago I began what would be an epic journey in Job’s Daughters. I have learned so much over the last 20 years because of this beautiful organization. It helped me find my voice, my love of travel, and gave me the confidence to pursue a communications degree at UNLV, among other many other things. It taught me the skills to speak and sing in front of thousands, and to do so eloquently. It allowed me to meet some of the most amazing people that have become close friends, and still are even all these years later. It gave me wonderful memories with my momma, my family, and with others that I will never forget. I spent 10 years as an active daughter and for 1 of those years I spent it as an international representative of the organization and role model to my fellow sisters. Now as an adult I have the honor of working with and being a voice for, the daughters of my home bethel. After my mom passed away I felt lost, and being able to return to my home and my girls has been one of the many wonderful things to help me heal. This tattoo is a celebration of this order and my journey. It is a celebration of the 20 years I have been active and of the centennial session this year. The Forget-Me-Not was one of the flowers we used during my year as SBHQ, and the Lily of The Valley is the flower of Job’s Daughters. Uniting them both reminds me of my love for Job’s Daughters and all the girls I have had the honor of representing over the years. I worked with a wonderful artist that took my vision and made it a reality. He took took so much care to add detail and to make it as perfect as possible, and his hard work did not disappoint. Happy birthday Meghan! Welcome to 31. You are amazing and I am proud of the person you have become, and the obstacles you have overcome to get where you are. This last year has been difficult in so many ways and I am in awe of your strength. There have been so many things that could have made you hard and closed your heart off, yet they have only served to make you more understanding, more loving and more compassionate to others. One thing you need to remember is to be kind to yourself, love yourself and continue working hard and being happy. Rock those bright red lips and all that glitter. Wear all your polka dots and those high heels. Be excited about things. Yell at those hockey games, football games, and cooking shows on TV. Bake more. More cupcakes, cookies, cakes. Teach yourself new things. Take time to do the little things you enjoy. Read more. Sing more. Make time for the things and the people that matter. Be unapologetically you. I love who have fought to become. Don’t lose her. After so much heartache and loss, YOU have put your pieces back together again. YOU have picked yourself up when your heart was hurting. YOU believed in you and woke up each morning after a night of tears and got on with your day. Good things are waiting for you. I still feel like I’m on cloud 9. Tonight after watching @vegasgoldenknights beat the Senators in a shootout I met not only my all time favorite hockey player, but one of my all time favorite athletes. It’s been a weird day. It’s been a difficult day for many people, and so much has been on our minds and has hung heavy in our hearts. Tonight I went to see a friend play a show on Fremont, it’s something I try to do when I can, but tonight seemed different, felt different. I have spent most of my life going to shows in Vegas, and 2 years ago made something that was a safe place for so many, something tragic. Tonight I was able to be connected to my local scene while watching my friend play his set. I took a moment to close my eyes and think of how much I love this city and how fear can’t win because nights like these are everything. I am so grateful to live in a city that is so resilient. FINALLY! After selling my tickets five years ago at the last minute for reasons beyond my control (stupid boys) and being unable to see them play and going to a bachelorette party instead, tonight I FINALLY got to see @onerepublic play live and it has been even more amazing than I could have imagined. I sang and danced my heart out and although I have no voice, I haven’t smiled this much in so long. I truly love this band and I am so so happy I was finally able to see them play tonight with one of my best friends, who’s bachelorette party I ended up at that night five years ago.
